Tell Trent & Debbie Wheeler have been involved in missions and ministry most of their lives. Their work includes mission efforts in New Zealand, Nigeria, and Central America as well as being involved in church plants in the United States.
Trent served as President of African Christian Schools Foundation for 10 years while overseeing two Bible colleges in Nigeria. During that time he focused on making those works self-support, self-governing, and self-propagating. During his tenure with both Nigerian Christian Bible College and West Nigeria Christian College he transitioned these schools to being 100% run by local Nigerian brethren.
For the past three years Trent and Debbie have visited several Central American countries looking for an opportunity to serve. After two recent visits to Panama, they saw both opportunity and need. The Eastern and Central regions of Panama have grown substantially (primarily because of their proximity to Panama City, the canal zone, and U.S. military bases brought the earliest missionaries to that part of the country). Western Panama has a few strong congregations but needs more workers to help plant churches and strengthen the existing efforts in that region of the county. That is where they will focus their attention.
Trent & Debbie have committed to finding a home outside of David (Panama's 3rd largest city) and help establish congregations in the Western provinces. While they are seeking support (primarily a work fund) for their efforts, much of their efforts will be self-funded through their savings and retirement benefits.
